Recently, some buttons on my laptop keyboard stopped working. I tried pressing them harder and replacing them but that didn’t helped me. I went online to learn why the laotp keyboard is not functioning properly. If the keyboard is not working, then don’t worry there are some chances that you’ll be able to get your keyboard back working again. Before contacting a technician like geek squad, let’s try some basic troubleshooting for resolving this issue.

Restart Your Laptop

Sometimes a simple restart of devices like laptop can resolve a lot of issues. Turn off the laptop completely then turn in on. Restarting the laptop will clear the memory on the laotop. This can help fix issues related to your keyboard. After restarting the laptop check if the keyboard is working or not on your laptop.

Clean your laptop

Hardware errors can strike at any moment. For example, when you notice some keys on your keyboard stop working, it might be because of something as simple as dirt or debris under the keys, preventing them from functioning properly.

Check your keyboard drivers and settings

If your keyboard problems are from a software-related issue, our first recommendation would be to update the keyboard driver.

  • Go to start.
  • Search and open device manager.
  • Click on keyboard.
  • Click on the keywords devices and uninstall it.
  • Now restart your laptop.

After restarting the laptop, your laptop will automatically download the latest version of the driver for you.

Use External Keyboard

This is not a good solution, but you can temporarily use an external keyboard for use. Connect an external keyboard to the laptop and check if the keyboard is working or not. If not then contact the experts for help. You can schedule geek squad appointment for help with this issue.
